When the car gets too hot and turns on the temperature warning indicator. First get the car cooled, then you or the mechanic needs to check any leakages in the water pump and if needed has to be replaced. The water pump shuts off when the engine coolant is pumped while the engine is running. Also, you need to check and confirm that the radiator hose, serpentine belt and tensioner are working properly.
Coolant needs to be replaced and many customers don´t do so during maintenance.  The cooling wears off over time and can damage radiators, head gaskets, intake gaskets, heater electrodes, metal cooling pipes, expansion plugs, etc.
